Adam Carolla dissing Manny Pacquiao.

Dear Sir Adam Carolla,

I’d like to say a few things to you, if you do not mind:

Yes, Manny Pacquiao is a big deal for us and every time he fights, the country stops to support not because he is the only thing in the Philippines that is worthy of such support but because we are brothers - we got eachother’s backs. Yes, he is also running for office but it is every citizen’s right to do so (I never heard of anyone stopping Arnold Schwarzenegger running for governor before) and he can run if he wanted to. Yes, people do look up to him but only because they have reason to. He’s one of the greatest fighters to ever step into boxing ring in the world and that, in itself, is a great cause for celebration.

However, someone with Manny’s achievements is certainly a prime target for gossip, for hatred and mostly it is because of jealousy. You do not know Manny personally, Sir Carolla, nor I doubt you ever spoke with him. I do not know why you called him stupid or a fucking idiot. The last time I check, boxing is not only a physical sport but a sport that involves strategy. Strategy, I believe, needs an intelligent mind. I bet you - a man with obviously high intellect - would agree to such statement.

But it is your opinion and once formed and said out loud, opinions are hard to change.

What appalled me most, Sir, is your description of the Philippines. First, it is not only Manny you were dissing now but Filipinos - all 90+ million of us. I’d be the first to admit that we are not at par with the United States economically (that’s a fact) but even if we are not as rich, we are a nation of great people. We are strong as we are kind. We are courageous as we are humble. We are hardworking as we are family oriented.

No Sir. We do not worship chicken bones and we do not have sex shops in every block (I think you were talking about Thailand - please try to get your countries straight). What we have are people who, amidst of having little, are happy. We’re the kind of people who would rather spend week-ends at the beach with friends instead of working; we’re the kind of people who would still visit their families even when they have kids and a house; we’re the kind of people who value things that are not as tangible as money, or cars, or the latest gadgets - things like sunsets, and music and a good laugh over a cup of Barako coffee or a hearty round of drinking. I believe we have a lot going for us. Our definition of happiness or success may be different but I am not judging your definition (and consequently your country) because of such difference.

Sir Adam Carolla, I do not know who you are and I do not know what your problem is. What I know is, I am Filipino and when someone attacks my being a Filipino or my country, I tend to strike back. If I was good as Manny with the whole punching thing, I’d probably punch you in the face if ever I see you. But since I am not, I use my words and my wit.

But really, I’d still rather use my fist though.

Love,

Cha

Very well said, Cha.

As much as I would like to curse this mofo out, I’d rather just not give him the attention. They say it’s the empty vessel makes the most noise. He obviously is empty in the head with all his talk about nonsense.

Adam Carolla, sir, why don’t YOU get your shit together.
